HI Connect® Design
Experience a Design Revolution

Hotel Interactive®, Inc. is proud to announce HI Connect® Design 2013. It’s the hospitality industry’s most stimulating and productive experience and it’s returning to Nashville, the Gaylord Opryland Resort and an all-new, state-of-the-art retail showroom which serves as the HI Connect® Design Studio from April 10-12, 2013.

We’re bringing back the most exciting event ever created in the hospitality sphere and we’ve made the 2013 edition even better. Expect more of what you love, including a full extra day at the design studio, and additional adaptations to make the event an even more successful experience for attendees, suppliers, designers, architects and purchasing pros.

HI Connect® Design is the hospitality tradeshow reimagined featuring the industry’s finest designers, suppliers, architects and purchasing companies while delivering the highest qualified attendees such as owners and developers, hotel executives, and purchasing decision makers representing leading hotel brands both domestically and abroad.

It’s a unique opportunity to interact with real environments, or “vignettes,” that changes the context to inspire a different level of conversation. In fact, this concept is so unique and different than any other tradeshow ever presented; Hotel Interactive® has patented this innovative concept.

HI Connect® Design helps suppliers and designers build critical relationships, while the educational industry insight and wisdom gained from others prove invaluable for future growth. Unparalleled networking and inspiration are only the beginning of what you will discover at HI Connect® Design 2013. HI Connect® Design’s fresh approach will leave you with great ideas, great relationships and a new outlook on how to “wow” your guests.

The Hotel Interactive® Difference

Hotel Interactive®, Inc. has a reputation for creating first class events and to this end Hotel Interactive® has secured a new 172,000 square foot state-of-the-art retail showroom to serve as the Design Studio.

“After our groundbreaking event earlier this year, we created an Advisory Board who overwhelmingly decided this HI Connect® Design is a must have event for our industry. This was a very successful event where everyone clearly understands its vision. Like any other first year event there were some challenges. We are bringing the function of project and show management in house which will give us the ability to improve and enhance the event. We are looking forward to delivering an even more exciting and productive event next spring,” said Rich Viola, President and CEO of Hotel Interactive®, Inc.

HI Connect® Design is what a trade show should be,” said Robert Mayer, CEO of Decolav. “The biggest advantage is that it showcases manufacturers and designer’s abilities but also gives industry manufactures, designers and architects a way to work together to develop creative model rooms. We are excited about next year’s event and look forward to working closely with designers and showing what we can do for hotel groups. HI Connect® Design is the only way industry professionals are going to learn to work together.”

Procurement firms also found reason to cheer HI Connect® Design. “I really think [HI Connect® Design] is a creative and fantastic concept that came to life. It turned out really great and from everyone’s perspective this is a success,” said Mitch Parker, Partner, The Parker Company.

Attendees are looking forward to the return of HI Connect® Design next year.

Richard Bennett, VP Design and Supply at Best Western International said, “The job the HI Connect® team did executing the event was nothing short of amazing. We typically build five vignettes at our annual convention. That’s a big job. What [they] did was easily twenty times harder since everything was lit and the vignettes were so thoroughly built out. I found it to be an incredibly effective way to see product and to see firsthand the talent of designers and suppliers."

“I must say the overall Concept was great. It provided a great setting to showcase new products and the talents of a large number of excellent designers,” said Gil Hardwick, Manager Design & Construction, Upscale Brands, The Americas with InterContinental Hotels Group.

Designers are once again looking forward to participating in the next edition of HI Connect® Design.

“I think [HI Connect®] has been a great innovation, I look forward to seeing this move forward for years to come,” said Roger Hill, CEO of Gettys.

“If you want to meet the crème de la crème you need to be at HI Connect® Design. This is the place to see and be seen,” said Marjorie Feltus Hawkins, Principal of Feltus Hawkins Design, who also thinks the event is a great place to build relationships. “The relationships we built with suppliers is terrific and we have used them on other projects. We have already started making great new relationships for the 2013 event.”

“This was the ultimate team building event. My experience has been awesome. There was great traffic and a fabulous response,” said Marcia Mink, Senior Designer with EDI International.

“It was a new way to look at a trade show. A fresh approach and more opportunities for seeing product,” said Janet Whaley, Senior Interior Designer with Cuningham Group Architects.

“HI Connect® Design is a unique and great challenge to the hospitality community. This event allows Designers to partner with manufacturers and suppliers to explore new visions of design without preconceptions. Pre-qualified attendees get to see a reflection of emerging hospitality design trends,” said Toby Schermerhorn and Rob Laschever of Cauhaus Design.

Suppliers too are excited about being able to present their products in a contextual environment as well as the ability to work more closely with industry insiders.

“HI Connect® Design provided us with the opportunity to work with creative designers and purchasing agents in a similar fashion to what we do on an ongoing basis in our business,” explained Larry Chalfin, President of Samuelson Furniture Inc. “Working as a team is an important part of the hospitality industry. HI Connect® Design provided us with an opportunity to produce beautiful custom product, enter into long lasting relationships and demonstrate how we manage our development process.”

The Nashville community also loves the out of the box approach to tradeshows.

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said: “I would like to welcome the 2013 HI Connect® Design event to Nashville, and thank the organizers for choosing our city. Hospitality is our second largest industry and is absolutely essential to Nashville’s economic health. We are a vibrant tourist destination and will be an even bigger draw for conventions once our new Music City Center opens next year. For these reasons, it is fitting that Nashville will host HI Connect® Design. This innovative event brings together the freshest designs and newest concepts in the hospitality industry and offers a fascinating peek into the hotel rooms of tomorrow.”

HI Connect® Design is already drawing attention from key international markets as well. It’s expected attendees from around the globe will be represented.
And Jeff Hite, Director, Economic Development with the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce said this event will be a boon for the city. “The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased that Hotel Interactive® has chosen Nashville to host the 2013 HI Connect® Design event. Through the joint efforts of the Mayor’s Office, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Gaylord Opryland Resort, and the Nashville Chamber, our city continues to attract conventions that strengthen the hospitality industry. The 2013 HI Connect® Design event allows us to showcase Music City to hotel developers and owners from around the world”, said Janet Miller, Chief Economic Diversity Officer for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce.
“We are thrilled that HI Connect® Design will return to Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in 2013. Because hospitality is the second largest employing industry in our city, this innovative show is a perfect fit for Music City. We look forward to welcoming you home to Nashville!” Kay Witt, Senior VP of Sales, Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau
Attendees and participants should also expect a host of new connectivity tools too that will link attendees, suppliers, designers, architects and purchasing pros in exciting ways never before seen at a hotel industry event.

The 2013 Design Studio is a 172,000 square foot modern built facility designed as a retail showroom. When HI Connect® Design opens you can again expect a clever neighborhood layout featuring more than 50 LIVE newly designed constructed hotel vignettes giving attendees inspiration for their next project. It’s the perfect place for all attendees to enjoy and learn from the collaborative effort of designers, purchasing companies and manufacturers.

At HI Connect® Design attendees tour fully constructed guestrooms while chatting with the actual designers, architects, purchasing pros and suppliers that created the vignette. Discuss your inspiration and shared ideas while you tour myriad guestrooms, lounges, bars, restaurants and a spa over a glass of wine. Enjoy a culinary tour de force with seemingly limitless choices spread throughout the studio’s public spaces.

HI Connect® Design completely changes the way design concepts are presented, how products and services are purchased and sourced, while simultaneously setting the stage for attendees to network and do business better going forward. Perhaps you’ll discover you love that new light fixture featured in one of the midscale guestrooms or the wall coverings in an upscale room.

Hotel Interactive® created HI Connect® Design to maximize industry professional’s time by engaging our guests and customers in all the right ways. Imagine a tradeshow that has only pre-qualified hoteliers, owners and developers exploring an environment that has no aisles. Now imagine walking through environments that are accurate representations of actual spaces that could exist in any hotel in the world. And that’s just for starters. There are many more unexpected but welcome surprises throughout this innovative happening.

HI Connect® Design provides a never-ending sense of discovery, stimulation and engagement where attendees step into myriad vignettes highlighting the vision of the industry’s top designers and suppliers who have partnered with leading suppliers. Take a tour of hotel rooms, hang out at the spa or just sit, chat and network with colleagues in the hotel lobby, bar or restaurant. All contained in a single immersive environment. No long walks, no tired feet. The choice is yours and the choices are endless at HI Connect® Design.
